In what was a first opportunity for many of our new signings to show their form in an Ebbw kit, the Steelmen’s 7-a-side squad came away from Parc-y-Scarlets as winnerss of the Heineken National 7s Plate. Ebbw lost their first match to eventual runners up Aberavon, but showed signs of what was to come in turning around a 21-0 half time deficit and scoring 19 points after the break, finally losing 29-19. Ebbw won a tight contest against Bargoed, 19-15, then showed some magic touches in another close win, 26-20 over Bedwas. The young Steelmen saved the best for last, though, scorching past Llanelli 34-7 with tries by Toby Fricker, Andy Evans, Jon Davies and Carl Lewis.
The squad was:
Andy Evans, Lewis Dennett, Calum Hall, Toby Fricker, Stefan Thomas, Srdan Majkic, Jonathan Davies, Garyn Payne, Tom Hopppe, Luke Prankerd, Kristian Palmer, Carl Lewis.
Many thanks to Beddau RFC, Rogerstone RFC and Newport Gwent Dragons for their support and cooperation.
