Tries from Lewis Young and Dan Hill, both converted by Rhys Jones who also scored two penalties, were enough to secure the win and season’s double over RGC. Bridgend’s defeat means that Ebbw now have an 8 point lead over the Ravens and a game in hand.

There was no score until just before half time, in what was a cagey first 40, largely played out in the middle third. Ebbw’s forward pressure earned two penalty opportunities that Rhys Jones pushed narrowly wide as the strong wind played its part. Billy McBryde slotted his one effort to give RGC a 3-0 lead.

Jones levelled inside a minute of the restart but RGC fought and set up a try off a line out drive, converted by McBryde. Ebbw repaid the visitors in kind as Lewis young was driven over. Jones converted then put Ebbw ahead 13-10 with a drop goal.  Despite having McBryde yellow carded, RGC rallied again and Danny Cross claimed the try which he converted to give the Gogs a 17-13 lead. Ebbw heads didn’t drop and the forwards took the game to their opponents. After a series of powerful picks and drives Dan Hill, prominent throughout, got the touchdown. Jones goaled and Ebbw were 20-17 up with 2 minutes to go. Crucially, the kick off was claimed by Ebbw’s latest international cap, Dawid Rubasniak, and Dai Jones nursed his forwards through a series of pods to run the clock down.
