27-0 down after 30 minutes, Ebbw were staring down the barrel of a hammering… then the comeback began. Lewis Young scored on the stroke of half term and Lewis Dennett converted to make it 27-7 to Aberavon at the break. Two second half tries by Stefan Thomas and a penalty try (accompanied by two yellow cards for the visitors) brought the Steelmen within touching distance of an unlikely victory, but it was just too far and the game finished at 30-26 with Aberavon’s only second half points being a Banfield penalty. Ebbw’s four tries and the 4-point difference meant that they took 2 points from the game.
