A bonus point win saw Ebbw climb to the top of the Principality Premiership on Friday night. Their 5-try haul came via a catch and drive first half hat-trick for Ronny Kynes and two penalty tries as the Ebbw pack completely dominated their opponents in probably their most effective performance of the season.
On a windless dry night and on the perfect artificial surface, both sides looked to run the ball. Cardiff’s backs were guilty of squandering what little ball came their way, though wing Ceri Young and outside half James Thomas looked dangerous runners, Young scoring his side’s first and lock Ben Thomas adding the second.
In truth, there was only one side in it and the Steelmen, superbly led by Damien Hudd, deserved the 5-point victory. The Cardiff RFC sponsors awarded the Man of the Match to Ronny Kynes, a fitting tribute to the efforts made by he and his fellow forwards.
